Cibes Classic at Dubai Marina Mall

Why did the client need a lift?

• Public / commercial accessibility

The cinema entrance at Dubai Marina Mall is located on an elevated level, making access difficult for visitors who cannot comfortably use the escalator or stairs. The lift was installed to provide a safe and convenient alternative for wheelchair users, elderly visitors, and anyone with mobility difficulties.

Was it a new build or a renovation?

• Retrofit into an existing building

Existing commercial property (retrofit installation). The Cibes Classic was added after the mall was already operating to improve accessibility to the cinema area.

What were the challenges and requirements?

The main requirement was to provide accessible entry to the elevated cinema area without major changes to the existing mall structure. The lift needed to fit beside the escalator, occupy minimal space, and provide reliable operation in a public environment with frequent visitor use.

Why was the Cibes Classic chosen?

The Cibes Classic was chosen for its compact design and minimal civil work requirements, making it suitable for installation in an existing shopping mall. Its self-contained screw-driven system eliminates the need for a separate machine room, allowing the lift to be integrated beside the escalator while providing convenient access for visitors with mobility needs.

What else is notable about this project?

One notable aspect of this installation is its long service history. The Cibes Classic has been operating at Dubai Marina Mall for more than a decade, with routine maintenance and very few spare parts needing replacement. Its continued operation demonstrates how a well-maintained accessibility lift can provide lasting service in a busy public environment.
